At Shortland Farm Riding School, we pride ourselves on our three decades of experience in teaching horse riding.
Our mission is to provide structured, professional, and fun riding lessons tailored to all ages and abilities, specializing in Showing and equestrian disciplines. Our ponies have taught many riders and have been carefully selected, trained and loved to provide
the best learning experience
Our yard manager and lead instructor Haley first fell in love with ponies at 5 years old. Ever since, she has dedicated her personal and professional life to horses. She has worked in many riding schools, private yards and has bred, produced and shown Welsh ponies. Haley has a natural instinct when teaching children and adults, knowing how best to get results whilst keeping yard life exciting and fun.

Storm
Palomino Welsh A Gelding
Storm is the ultimate first pony. He has taught countless of children to ride and won more championships and sashes than all the other ponies combined. Don't let his age fool you, he is full of character and is truly the king of the yard.
Merrylegs
Grey Welsh A Gelding
Merrylegs is the sweetest boy, he is a true school master. He absolutely loves pony games and hacks. He has a cracking jump and loves to go out to shows or the beach.

Grey Welsh A Gelding
JB is a young-at-heart superstar pony. JB might be a veteran but he is still bursting with energy. He loves his jumping. His talent shines in the ring having brought home many championship sashes. His favorite is XC though.
Bally
Grey Welsh A Mare
Bally aka Ballerina is the queen of strutting her stuff and she knows it. Full of spirit, she loves her hacking and has a lovely rocking canter.
Buddy
Grey Cob x Welsh Gelding
Buddy is a very handsome chap, with his long mane and loveable nature, he is a favourite in the show ring . His true love is jumping and is super speedy.
Luna
Buckskin Welsh C mare
Luna is miss flicky toes. She has a floaty graceful trot that always gets noticed in the show ring. She is a truly beautiful mare and a talented dressage pony.

Pip
Bay Dartmoor Mare
Pip is a sweet and cheeky young pony. She is showing fantstic potential across all disciplines. Nothing seems to faze her. Her current strength are showing and dressage but she also enjoys a good hack with friends.

Piebald Cob Gelding
Secret
Buckskin Welsh D Mare
Secret is only 5 year old but is a wise head on young shoulders. She loves jumping and long hacks solo or in company. She also proved amazing at stay away shows and has recently impressed with her dressage potential.
